#2 - HMS Victory
Fun Stuff > Dad's Boats
Okay - here we go with #2. I will try to chronical the ups and downs as I go along and share them with everyone in photos. (Note: Hopefully you can read the captions on the photos - sometimes you have to move the cursor around to see them).
28 August: Just finished hull, except for a whole lot of sanding.
13 September: End of a busy week. Finished flooring from stem to stern and looking forward to some small details. But still need to finish outside of hull.
19 September: Big discovery over last few days is one of the specials uses of this boat. When the "mother ship - HMS Victory" wanted to drop anchor somewhere, this launch was set out with its fourteen rowers towing the main ship's anchor out, in the water tied to the its hull. When it got to the place it wanted to drop the anchor, it utilised its special equipment to let it doown and release it - then only connected to the mother ship. Hence all the ropes, barrels and other stuff I have to make! See the two pics from the plans.
27 September: Took a short video. Put a lot of the bits inside quickly while the sun was out. Leftmast off and still touch-up painting etc needed. Put it on YouTube - click here. And have added some more recent photos as well - towards the start to avoid too much scrolling.
